As I look towards this years recital, I have also looked at the new skills the students have acquired throughout the year. It’s interesting to go through each student and see which pieces to pick for them now that they are beyond just beginner levels.

Of course, one of the things I like to do to keep them involved is that they get to learn 1 song of their choice for the recital, but this year in addition to that I’m looking into the popular classical pieces and some of my favorite composers for them to get acquainted with. Now that many of them are level 5 and beyond, I have set them up with their own personal goals for piano as well as recognition for those accomplishments this year.

It’s going to be a busy year and I can’t wait to see how they flourish this year!
